DSLR

by Brian Joseph Lim del Rosario
Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras or DSLRs are powerful photography tools that take high quality images and these are used by professional photographers in the field of fashion, entertainment, news and the arts amongst others. DSLRs are able to take high quality photos by making use of a system of mirrors to reflect light through the camera lens to the viewfinder and then onto the camera’s photographic sensor. This technology behind DSLRs set it apart from simple Point and Shoot cameras and this is the reason why pictures taken using the former are notably more superior to the latter. Also, DSLRs are able to take high quality photographs by allowing photographers to have full manual control in composing pictures and by allowing them to adjust the aperture, shutter speed, light sensitivity, white balance, ISO level, etc. However, the major drawback of DSLRs for many photography enthusiasts is its size. Because of its bulky size composed of a body and a detachable lens, it is bigger and heavier than the handy, compact and travel-friendly Point and Shoot. Perhaps, this is just a necessary trade-off when one wants a camera that performs well and shoots well.
